It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rick Beres on October 18, 2025.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Cory, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years as well as his sister Brenda (John) Spiehsl. He leaves behind three sons. Rick (Dar) Beres, their children Zachary (Mary) Beres, Mackenzie (Jason) Watson with great-grandchildren Liam, Avalee, and Lucas; James (Christine) Beres, their children Timothy, Benjamin, and Azure; Andy (Carla) Beres and their son Xander. He also leaves his foster son Dan Larcher, and Cassio (Krista-deceased) Maffia, and their daughters Lua, Adriana, and Micaela, who were close with the Beres family.

Rick was known for being a great neighbour, volunteer, and friend as well as a loving and supportive husband. Both he and his wife Cory enjoyed traveling the world together and they eventually saw every continent. He worked as a portable and oilfield welder for most of his life, and later taught welding at the Lethbridge College. After retiring, he volunteered at Career Transitions & Skills Canada both on a provincial and national level. One of his favorite hobbies was as an amateur radio operator (VE6CW) where he spoke with people from around the world. Rick was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and volunteered with Gold Wing Road Riders Association. While his sudden loss is hard to bear, we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering.

A gathering to celebrate his memory will take place on Saturday, Nov 15 at the Lethbridge Polytechnic Garden Court restaurant, 2PM-5PM.
