Richard Lorne Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of RICHARD LORNE. On September 30, 2022 he made his journey to the football pitch in the sky, with his sons by his side.
He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife Norma Lorne (Hardman). He leaves his memories in care of his 4 sons; Steven (Corrine), Barry (Annette), Darran (Yvonne) and Jason (Noelle); 15 Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren.

Richard was born August 1, 1937, as Richard Longhorn, in Lancaster Lancashire England. He overcame the trials of his difficult childhood by finding his singing voice, sharing the stage with some of the greats such as Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck and Johnny Mathis, where he took the name Richard Lorne.

He also had a brief stint as a model and loved body building.

In 1957 he married the love of his life Norma, together they had 4 boys. In the early 1970’s Richard saw the world changing for the English working class. As a result, he gave up his stage career, went back to school where he got his nursing degree, becoming a Psychiatric Nurse. The degree enabled him to immigrate his family to Canada in 1974.

His true passion in life was Soccer. He was an avid fan of the Manchester United Football Club. He followed the team through the years, he eventually became the President of the Supporters Club. He shared the passion of soccer with his 4 sons and thousands of young men and women through coaching. Leading teams to multiple provincial championships over his coaching career.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Richard’s name to the Lethbridge Soccer Association (2501 28 AVE S, Lethbridge T1K 7L6).

Give Mum a kiss for “Uz”.

Rest in Peace Dickie.
