Patricia von Chorus Obituary

Patricia May (Layton) von Chorus passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Sunday November 20 at the age of 90.

Pat was born on March 17, 1932, in Taber Alberta to Clarance and Elva Layton. She was one of six children.

She married Hans von Chorus on February 28, 1959, in Taber.

Right out of high school she moved to Lethbridge and attended Secretary College. She began her career with AGT Telephone Company, then many years at Simpson Sears in the cash office, then with Westcan Irrigation, she also work for a while in a group home and loved being a lunch lady at Fleetwood Bawden Elementary School.

But her priority was her family, so for many years she raised her children.

Pat was blessed with many talents, a beautiful singing voice, and the ability to draw, often her children handed in beautiful art projects with Mom’s touch. She was an amazing seamstress, making many costumes for adults and grandkids. She took great pride in her needlepoint pictures, which her children, grandchildren and many friends have hanging in their homes today.

She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. She had a caring heart towards others, but mostly her family. She never missed school concerts, drama plays or many sports events.

Pat loved rocking newborns babies and could be heard singing lullabies to them. Sleepovers were a must for her grandchildren, the small ones would get a bath in the kitchen sink followed by a bedtime story, a back scratch and you always said your prayers with grandma.

Patricia is survived by her children Karen (Robert) Thom, Douglas (Angela) von Chorus and Denise (Brian) Stewart, her 11 grandchildren Megan (Bradshaw) McClung, Matthew (Jackie) Thom, Michaela (Matthew) Chatterton, Casandra (John) Wilson, Conner (Rachel), Tanner (Danae), Emily and Roxanne Kenney, Eric (Echo), Hannah, Nikolaus von Chorus. She had 9 great grandchildren Hayden, Grayson, Abbi and Penny McClung, William, Bradon Wilson, Charlotte, Lucy and Boden Chatterton.

Brother Lynn (Beryl) Layton, sister-in-law Mae Fallon, Helga (Rob) Archer, Giselle (John) Dyck and many nieces and nephews who loved Aunt Pat very much.
