Marjorie Ellen Harris, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend peacefully departed this life on June 2, 2024, surrounded by family.  Marjorie bravely battled cancer with the same grace and dignity she displayed throughout her life.  The family and friends that rallied around her in her final months was a testament to the love and friendship she cultivated throughout her life.

Marjorie was born on September 13, 1935 in Carmangay, Alberta and spent her formative years helping in every way on the family farm in Barons.  Marjorie loved to work alongside her dad, and they developed a special bond as he taught her to drive the tractor, milk cows, pitch bails, and haul grain.  She was her dad’s right-hand man on the farm and the value of hard work was an important part of who she was throughout her life. Marjorie would go on to graduate from LDS business school and worked several bookkeeping jobs.  A sudden change in her life came when by chance she met Boyd Harris at a church dance.  He swept her off her feet (and off the farm).  They were married on March 31, 1956 and shared 68 married years of love and adventure together.

Marjorie’s greatest treasure was Boyd and the four wonderful children that they raised, along with her 12 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.  Her family was the jewels in her crown and the love of her life.  Marjorie’s faith in her Savior remained unshakable and guided her throughout her life.  She and Boyd served many people in many different callings and missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Marjorie was well known for her baking, cooking and canning skills.  She was always so generous with her delicious food and loved using it to serve others.  She didn’t need a recipe; she knew how to add “just a little bit of this and a little bit of that” until it was perfect.  Marjorie loved spending time with family and friends and was an especially skilled game player.  Many nights were spent around a table eating her delicious treats and playing cards or games and enjoying each other’s company.  She loved being with her sweetheart and together they would amaze the family with their plans and accomplishments, not the least of which was flying in small, fixed wing aircrafts with the Civil Air Search and Rescue as spotters in her 80’s!  She was never one to shrink from a challenge and helped organize the take off and landing of the planes during the training exercises.

Marjorie is survived by her husband Boyd Leonard Harris, her two sisters Eva Mae Humphreys and Joan Andrekson, her four children, Leilani (Gary) Crane, Cheryl (John) Kearns, Russell (Aubrey) Harris and Allen (Carrie Hart) Harris along with her 12 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.  Marjorie was also an adoptive mother and grandmother to anyone who needed it and she will be missed by many.  She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard Stanley and Louise Mae Milner.
