Linda King Obituary

LINDA DAWN KING passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, in Lethbridge, Alberta, at the age of 67.

Linda led an exemplary life full of constant service to others. She was a regular donator of blood, credited with over 200 donations. She voluntarily quilted and sewed items by the hundreds for various organizations including Days for Girls and Blankets for Canada. The special baby blankets and quilts, Christmas stockings and cross-stitched artwork she gifted family members will be cherished.

She was a dedicated Scouter, awarded the Bar to the Silver Acorn and Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her thousands of volunteer hours of service in Scouts Canada at the local, provincial, and national levels. She quietly ensured that appropriate honours and awards were presented to others across Canada.

From a young age, Linda’s life was full of music. As a singer, piano teacher and choral director Linda’s talents touched the lives of many. She was thrilled to be asked to direct the choirs at the dedication of the Toronto Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and at their week-long Philmont Scouters Training Conference for Church leaders in New Mexico. An active member of the Church, Linda served in numerous ward and stake capacities as well as serving for twelve years as a temple worker.

Linda had a love for sporting activity. As her high school class valedictorian, Linda was also Calgary’s Female High School Athlete of the Year. She met her husband working as a lifeguard and later taught swimming for many years. She was a softball umpire and volleyball referee, active up to and including this season.

Linda is survived by her loving husband D. Brent King; children Lori LaFrance (David), Terri Demers (Jason), Traci King (Jeremy), Debbi Heninger (Bryan), Kristi Kenworthy (Scott), Kevin King (Breanne), Jason King (Ashley) and Marci King; and her siblings Karen, Glen, Debbie, Mark, Colin, John, and Shawna. Linda has been reunited with her parents Owen and Maxine Easthope, son Steven King, and grandchild Skyla Demers, who predeceased her. Linda was a cherished grandmother to 35 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, with 3 more on the way.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Lethbridge Alberta Stake Centre (2410 28th Street S) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
