Lillian Christine (Ruttan) Roerick Obituary

Lillian Christine Ruttan Roerick, beloved wife of the late O. William Roerick, passed away January 29, 2025 at the age of ninety nine years. Born June 17, 1925, Lillian is survived by her children Judy-Lee Jensen (Stephen), Robert Roerick (Beth) and grandchildren Charlotte Jensen (Josef), Colin Jensen(Kari),  Lauren, Karina and Adam Roerick and Kylie Nemeth. She is also the great grandmother of Lillian, Eden and Everlee Jensen.

At the time of her passing, Lillian was a resident of the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale Alberta, where she was diligently attended to by the dedicated staff, and will be remembered for her sense of humor and spritely personality.

Lillian's faith in the Savior Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of a long life. It allowed her to face challenges and heartbreak with courage and dignity. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, most recently of the Coaldale Ward, whose members lovingly visited her at Sunny South. She served in many positions in the church but her favorite one was that of a Relief Society teacher at the Garden View Lodge in Lethbridge.

Lillian lived for many years on 5th Avenue in Lethbridge and was visited by family, friends, and neighbors so frequently that it was known as the "Do Drop Inn". She loved attending to her flower garden and hosted many parties for friends in her backyard. She was known for her love of animals, particularly cats, not just the ones who resided with her, but also several neighborhood felines who sensed a friend. A widow for many years, her friends and neighbors rendered countless acts of kindness and generosity, for which we are very grateful.

To her children and grandchildren, Lillian will be remembered as a cherished friend and loving matriarch. Her home was a haven and we feel so blessed to have had her in our lives. She had a quick wit and love of crossword puzzles, which she looked forward to completing daily. Her thesaurus was so well loved, it was held together with masking tape and elastic bands.

She was a proud descendant of United Empire Loyalists and greatly admired the late Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain.

A private memorial service will be held in her honor and she will be interred in the Raymond Cemetery alongside her husband.
