Judy Coleby Obituary

Judy was surrounded by family and friends when she passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026. She was born and grew up in Chudleigh Knighton, Devon, England.


She met her husband, Martin, in 1966 and were married two years later. They immigrated to northern Manitoba with their daughter, Gail, where they started out their life in Canada. Here they had their daughter, Fay, and shortly after the family moved to Elkford, British Columbia. While her girls were young, Judy was a stay at home mom but then became a Playschool Teacher as she enjoyed working with children. She later worked at Greenhills Mine as a custodian until she retired. She and Martin enjoyed their retirement years in Lethbridge, Alberta. Judy was known for her cooking. She enjoyed gardening, camping, Wordle, crossword puzzles, going on holiday, and spending time with family and friends.


Judy is survived by her husband, Martin Coleby, daughter Gail Mathews and husband Dan, daughter, Fay Coleby and husband Ryan DeCillia. Grandchildren, Robbie Mathews and wife Montana, Allison Mathews and husband Kayden Weir, Shannon Mathews, Reid DeCillia and Emmit DeCillia. Great grandchildren, Deklan and Bodie Mathews. Also, her lifelong friends, Jennifer and Robert Sheffield.


She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Juliet Coleby, her parents, Edward and Beatrice Bray, and siblings, Hillary Gardner, Allan Bray, Geoffrey Bray and Gerald Bray.


Judy requested that there not be any service or funeral.
