John “Sarge” Jardine, beloved husband of Lois Jardine, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the age of 85 years.
Born in Acme, AB on March 31, 1939, John grew up and was a lifelong resident of Lethbridge. He was a professional house painter by trade and was also affectionately known as just John to many children at Sunny South Day Care.
John and Lois married on February 7, 1959, and had three children. He cherished spending time and attending the activities of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was actively involved with the Lethbridge Figure Skating Club, coached soccer, held season tickets for the Lethbridge Broncos, and was a devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. John also enjoyed family trips to Hawaii, Vancouver, Banff, and Waterton.
In addition to his loving wife Lois, John is survived by his son John Jr. (Sandra) and daughters Shelly (Rick) and Lisa (Brian). His grandchildren Alanna (Steve), Marley and Connor; Josh and daughter Brooklynn; Jaime (Ariel), Shayla and Tyler; Jordan (Tarilie), Nolan and Natalya; Lexi (Simon), Luca and Max; Cody (Emily); Kelli (Jeremy); and Karly (Patrick). Brother-in-law Dan (Marilyn) Bodell. and sister-in-law Sharon (Ray) Baker. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents John A Jardine and Edith Mallett as well as grandson Garrett Jardine.
Special thanks to Drs. Shukkoor, Lavins, and Bridge, Lethbridge Home Care, especially Kristy, along with the amazing support from Kathleen and the entire Lethbridge Palliative Care team, and Lethbridge Family Services during his six-year battle with cancer.
A private family celebration will be held.
