Jerry Prince Obituary

Jerry Owen Prince , beloved husband of Jeri Prince, passed away at the age of 67 from a year and a half battle with cancer. We are proud of the courage, faith and humility he showed through this difficult time in his life. His testimony and love of the Savior never wavered.

Jer was the baby of 7 children. He was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta. His parents, Elmo and Olivet, taught their children to love God and trust in him, a trait Jer continued to develop his whole life. At the age of 19, he and 14 of the young men in his church ward, all left home to serve missions for the Lord Jesus Christ. Jer was called to serve in the Pennsylvania Pittsburg Mission in 1974.

In October 1976, Jerry met Jeri at the church roadshows in Edmonton and they were married July 7, 1977 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. After completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta, Jer studied at NAIT to become a dental technician. He was very skilled at his craft and loved working in this field for 40 years. Jer owned Oral Design Dental Lab. He was a good employer and loved the people he was blessed to work with and associate with everyday. Jerry and Jeri are the proud parents of 4 children. McKinnley, Taron, Kelsi and Jade. Jer was a good dad who worked very hard to provide for his family. He loved his children and was very proud of each one.

He camped, hiked, fished and travelled with his family, supported them in their activities and taught them about God and his son Jesus Christ. Jer lived his whole life trying to honor the Savior through the choices he made and the service he was ever willing to give. In the church he considered it a privilege to serve as a Young Men's leader, Sunday School teacher, High Councillor, Bishop and a councillor in other bishoprics. He also enjoyed the opportunity to travel and serve on some humanitarian trips to Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. In 2015, Jerry and Jeri were called to serve a 2 year mission, in the South America Northwest area, working out of the area office as self reliance missionaries. They lived in Lima, Peru but traveled the country teaching and training in different aspects of self reliance. Jer loved his Latino brothers and sisters and they loved him. They also made life long friends with the senior missionary couples they were blessed to serve with.

In 2017 he became a papa to his amazing grandson Eddie and also to sweet Ruby in 2019.

Life will not be the same without this good man a part of our lives here on the earth, but we know his spirit is near to his family and watching over us. We thank our Heavenly Father for his kindness and tender mercies he continues to show us as he takes care of our good husband, father, papa, brother and dear friend!

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00PM on Monday June 27, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints NORTH STAKE CENTRE (560 Highlands Blvd W, Lethbridge).
