Janet (Scoville) Burr, born December 17, 1944, in Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, in Raymond, Alberta. She was 80 years old. Janet was the beloved daughter of Asa Lamar and Felda (Witbeck) Scoville.
After a short time apart, she is now reunited with her loving husband, Richard Clarke Burr, whom she married on September 5, 1970. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Marty and Jeffrey. They were everything to her.
Janet loved traveling with family and friends. She especially looked forward to annual trips to Las Vegas and celebrating the Fourth of July in Great Falls.
She found joy in beautifying her flower beds, baking the best treats, canning, and caring for others. Janet had a true gift for bringing people together and making everyone she met feel loved and valued.
She worked most of her adult life as an educational assistant, first in Lethbridge and later in Raymond. She returned to college to earn a diploma in Early Childhood Education and went on to specialize in speech therapy. Every child she worked with was special to her. She remembered each one and often kept in touch as they grew into adulthood.
Janet had a loving heart and gave it freely in service. She loved the Lord and faithfully served Him through various church callings and in the Holy Temple. Her kindness, love and devotion to others will always be remembered.
Janet was predeceased by her husband Richard and her siblings, Grant (Martha) Scoville and Reed (Sharon) Scoville. She is survived by her sister Evelyn (Scoville) Hicks, her sons Charles Lamar Burr and Jeffrey Wayne Burr, and her found family: Will and Michele ZoBell, along with her surrogate grandchildren Samantha, Brittney, and Dawson.
The Burr family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the medical staff at the Raymond Hospital for their care of Janet leading up to her passing. They
would also like to thank many in the community of Raymond for their friendship, love and support of Janet throughout her life.
A “Meet the Family” will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 6:00-7:00pm followed by a Memorial Service on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 11:00am. Both events will be held at the Knight Street Chapel(260 E 200 N) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Raymond, Alberta.
