Inga Edlund

Inga Edlund, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on September 3, 2023, at the age of 47, after a courageous two-year battle with kidney cancer. Those who knew Inga on the court will not be surprised to learn that she attacked her cancer with the same ferociousness she played basketball with right until her life’s final buzzer. She was surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home in Barnwell, Alberta, where she spent her life making cherished memories.

Born on November 28, 1975, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Inga was the daughter of Lee Ann Anderson and Rick Anderson, and she was blessed with the guidance and love of her stepmother, Dixie Anderson.

Inga leaves behind her devoted husband, Aaron Edlund, and their five children, Trey, Olivia, Lauren, Cru, and Ryann. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and she found immense joy in raising her children and supporting them in all their endeavors.

Inga was not just a loving mother; she was an incredible athlete and a fierce competitor, always proud to represent her schools – the Barnwell Trojans, Raymond Comets, and Lethbridge College Kodiaks. She even had the honor of representing Team Alberta several times. Her passion for sports was only surpassed by her love for her children's athletic pursuits, as she cherished watching them play.

Elvis Presley's music held a special place in Inga's heart and she found comfort and joy in his songs throughout her life. Inga was also known as the "favorite auntie" to many of her nieces and nephews, a testament to the warmth and affection she shared with her extended family.

Inga's honesty and candor were part of her charm; she never hesitated to call a spade a spade, endearing her to all who knew her. She also found solace and strength in her faith, regularly attending the Cardston Temple.

Inga was a dedicated community member who generously gave her time to coaching volleyball and basketball teams at Barnwell School, helping young athletes realize their full potential.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Inga's life will be held at the Taber Stake Centre in Taber, Alberta (4709 - 50th Ave) on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 am. Following the service, a party in her honor will be held at Barnwell School at 2:00 pm. All who knew and loved Inga are welcome to join in remembering the remarkable woman she was.

Inga's life was marked by her pride in her roots, her dedication to family, her love for sports, and her unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, love, and the incredible impact she had on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
