Gordon Lee Russyl Workman

With Great Sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, son and brother -  Gordon Lee Russyl Workman.  On the evening of April 8th at the Good Samaritan Society in Raymond, Alberta he peacefully passed away.   Gordon was predeceased by his wife Verna Jeanette Rasmussen on May 13, 2022.  Gordon was born on November 11, 1939 in Cardston, Alberta to Joseph Russyl Workman and Mabel Leishman. He was the second child with 3 sisters.  

Gordon married Verna Rasmussen in Cardston Alberta Temple in 1964.  Together they raised five children:  Shelly Webster, Leanne Gregersen, Russyl (Nikki) Workman, Craig (Allison) Workman and Darren (Amy) Workman.  His sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild and sister Donna will miss him.  

Gordon graduated High School and went to LCI in Lethbridge, AB.  He worked in telecommunications as an Engineer Technician for AGT. His retirement brought travel,  self employment  and mission service.  Gordon was an devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Along with his youth mission to the Las Vegas, NV / Anaheim, CA area he served 3 more missions with his companion Verna.  2001-2003 Cardston Temple Mission, 2003-2005 Florida Orlando Employment Resource Center Mission, 2005-2007 Bishop Storehouse/Home Storage Calgary, Alberta. 

He will be remembered for his love of talking, his jokes, his big smile, his sweet tooth, reading, watching tv in his lazy boy, travelling and camping with family and best friends The Schmidts.  Gordon loved his family and were his proudest accomplishments.  Till we meet again.  

A memorial for Gordon will take place at Knight Street Chapel 260E 200N in Raymond Alberta on Friday April 28, 2023 from 11-1 pm. 

He will be put to rest at the Temple Hill Cemetery following the memorial.
