Gordon Adams Obituary

Gordon Clifford Adams, beloved husband of Florence Adams, passed away peacefully in his home of fifty one years on April 15, 2022 at the age of 84.

Gordon was born March 11, 1938 in Fort Macleod, Alberta to John and Dorothy Adams and grew up farming beside Tyrrell Lake near Warner, Alberta with his siblings Jack, Margarite, and Mildred.

Gordon married Olga Veres in 1961 and together they had one daughter, Sherry, before Olga passed away in a car accident.

He then worked very hard to court Florence Graham and convince her to marry him. Together, they raised five children: Darcy, Tracy, Sherry, Dana, and Wendi. They worked hard together on their acreage outside Okotoks and Gordon always did what needed to be done, sacrificing and giving his all for his family, even if it meant digging post holes with a blowtorch and a crowbar. They also went on many family trips in the motorhome together.

He had his Class 1 driver's license by age sixteen and drove a school bus, farmed, and later spent a lot of his life on the road, driving truck and drinking Diet Coke. He and Florence owned and operated their own trucking company as well as several other small businesses and provided a good living for their family and even retired early.

Within the LDS church, Gordon served as Elder's Quorum President and Counselor in the Bishopric and, with Florence served a mission in the Texas, Houston East Mission, mostly in Louisiana, and a stake service mission to the Eden Valley Reserve.

Gordon fiercely loved his family, but also loved being with people and making new friends. He was never shy about the volume of his voice or what he had to say. Anywhere he went, he'd know all the people near him and they'd have been entertained by his unfiltered commentary and great sense of humor by the time he left. The only person who could put him in his place was his sweetheart Florence. He never stopped feeling lucky to be married to her.

Gordon loved his horses, dogs and his grandkids and was usually more softhearted toward them than people might guess.  He is predeceased by his parents, siblings, and daughter Dana.

He leaves behind Florence, children Darcy (Diane) Duce, Tracy (Jayne) Duce, Sherry Adams, and Wendi (Bill) Bass and a legacy of 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

His big presence in this world will be sorely missed by many.
