Gonzalo Osbaldo Olmedo

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gonzalo Osbaldo Olmedo Alvariza on April 20th, 2022 in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Born on July 23rd, 1931 in Aiguá, Uruguay, Gonzalo was the youngest of five children. In 1955 Gonzalo married the love of his life, Teresa Barrón in Montevideo, Uruguay where he owned and operated two butcher shops, and where his daughters, Mayte Hufnagel and Mónica Ingoldsby, were born. In 1979 Gonzalo, Teresa and Mónica moved to Canada, following their daughter Mayte who had immigrated several years earlier. Once in Canada, Gonzalo changed professions and greatly enjoyed working as a mechanic's assistant and vehicle safety inspector at Speedy Heavy Hauling.

Predeceased by wife Teresa in 2018, Gonzalo leaves to mourn his daughters Mayte (George) Hufnagel, Mónica (Terry) Ingoldsby, grandchildren Daniel (Regan) Bikman, Amy (Cameron) Court, Annie Jo (Shawn) Anderson, Adam Hufnagel; Christina (Cameron) Whitehead, Ashley (Nicholas) Jette, and eleven great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 25th, 2022 at Salmon and Sons Funeral Home, Lethbridge. Friends and family are invited to gather at 11:00 AM with a brief Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:45 AM.
