It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of George Albert Nordstrom, beloved Dad, husband, grandfather and friend, who passed away on 8 March, 2026 at Cardston, AB.
He was born on 23 August 1936 at Bonnyville, AB to George Vilhard Nordstrom and Elsie Laura Erickson.
He will be remembered for his love and musical talent on the guitar and violin and other instruments.
He also sang and played in a band when he lived with his family in Inuvik, NWT. The band was called the Balugatones.
He grew up on a farm homestead near Bonnyville, AB. The home was situated close to a lake so he enjoyed fishing, boating and the outdoors. He learned to farm from his Dad and purchased some land near Bonnyville where he ran a chicken hatchery for 30 yrs. He also operated a farm himself and raised a small cattle herd.
He also farmed wheat and barley crops. He loved to visit with people and was always willing to make a new friend.
He is now reunited with his loving wife Adeline Babiuk, whom he married on 20 July 1957 at Rycroft, AB. They were married for 43 years. With sadness she passed in 2000. He leaves to mourn his three children:
David Nordstrom (Elizabeth Pinzon) child – Erica Nordstrom
Donna Nordstrom Neilson (Glen Neilson) children – Jeremy Neilson (Breanne Otis), Shawn Neilson,
Jess Neilson (Jane Thomson), Jocelyn Neilson Saxton (Payton Saxton)
Sue Nordstrom Howrish-children – Charmaine Howrish Anderson (Aidan Anderson), Carmen Howrish,
Timothy Corey Howrish. and numerous grandchildren.
He is also reunited with his beloved wife, Margaret Carson whom he married on 30 September 2004 at Cardston, AB. They were married for 21 years. She passed on 28 August 2025, who he sadly missed.
He leaves to mourn numerous stepchildren and step grandchildren.
He had many jobs and interests in his lifetime. First job- Alberta Treasury Branch-accountant, manager of Rycroft, AB Credit Union. Played on the ball league with the Rycroft Legionarres. He moved to Calgary and took a job as the manager of the Forest Lawn Credit Union and organized a bowling league for the members. He worked for the Dept of Indian Affairs and Northern Development where he travelled by plane all over the Artic Region, NWT., lived in Inuvik, NWT. with his small family. Moved to Edmonton where he worked as a co-op development officer with the Alberta government working with first nations people. Moved to Bonnyville where he farmed and operated Nordstrom Hatcheries. He had many interests and lived a full life.
After Adeline passed, he sold his farm and moved to Cardston, Alberta.
A Private Family Service will be held.
