Gabi spent the first 3 years of her life in Hong Kong. Her love of learning started at a very young age. At just 2 years old she was enrolled in preschool. All by herself, without a tear in sight, she would walk down a small hill and climb into the bus, excited to go to school. Her grade 1-12 school years were in Magrath, Alberta.
She was a great lover of all people and would reach out especially to those who were often alone and would appreciate a friend. She graduated from Magrath High School in 2001 and played sports throughout high school. Her desire for learning took her to the University of Alberta in Edmonton where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. It was in Edmonton while in school, that she met her husband, Jeff Andersen. They married on January 10, 2004 in the Cardston Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Their path together started in Edmonton, moved along to Lethbridge and settled in Magrath. She worked as a Behavioral Therapist at the Rockport Colony and many years at 1st Choice Savings as a Service Representative using her math skills in accounting.
The list of things she loved was long, beginning with being in and serving in the Temple, playing & coaching sports, reading books, hiking & camping, accumulating friends, kayaking, taking her children & friends to Wally’s beach, hunting, snowshoeing and her daily walks while listening to books or talking with friends. She just loved life. Family and friends were so important to her. She was an organizer and planner. Her most appreciated talent was bringing people together, she was the glue for her family ensuring that they spent time together by arranging gatherings, dinners, birthdays and outings.
Community was also important to Gabi and she was currently serving on the Magrath Public Library board and had been for over 10 years. She served in the several programs in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Primary and with the Young Women. Her absolute love was doing Family History. She spent every possible minute searching about her ancestors, reading their stories and adding them to the FamilyTree.
