Fred Kearns passed away peacefully with family at his side at the age of 97 on April 26, 2023 at St Therese Villa.

Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elsie Lousie Kearns (Poche, Pavan); parents Fred Sr. and Anastasia ‘Hannah’ (Cadigan) Kearns; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law: Marie Kearns, Liz (Vern) Hunter, Helen (Charlie) Hensel; 1 brother and sister-in-law Patrick ‘Paddy’ (Stella) Kearns and sisters-in-law Marion (Charlie) Schramm and Elizabeth ‘Toots’ (Jack) Kearns.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son: Ken (Monica) Kearns, his grandchildren: Barrett (Eisha) Kearns and their son Nicholas (Phoenix Wouda) Kearns of Lethbridge; Bonnie (Raif Shath) Kearns of UAE; and Tiffany (Kyle Heitman and his son Kingston) Kearns of Coaldale; his brother Jack Kearns of Raymond; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Joan (Ed) Baker and Charlie Schramm; and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was born July 19, 1925 in Lethbridge, the fourth of six children. He grew up and farmed in the Nemiscan area. He met Elsie and her son Ken through mutual friends, married in 1970 and moved to the Wilson Siding area farm until they retired to Lethbridge in 1978. They enjoyed RV travelling and then relaxing in their Lethbridge home visiting with friends and family and entertaining their grandchildren.

We shall all miss how his smile lit up and his eyes sparkled whenever he saw us, as well as his kindness, generosity and helping hands.

A special thanks to all the caregivers who engaged with him.

In his memory, please send your sincere gratitude to all those supporting our loved ones.

Cremation will be entrusted to Salmon and Sons Funeral Home. In keeping with Fred’s and Elsie’s wishes, they will both be interred in the Mountain View Columbarium during a family celebration this summer.
