Florence Rollingson Obituary

Ruth was born in Hamilton, Ontario on May 24th, 1926. Her parents, John Moors and Florence Elliott Moors, and their six children moved to Magrath in the early 40's when John Moors was hired to manage the Golden Fleece Woollen Mill.  For Ruth, leaving Ontario was hard as a teenager, but she quickly grew to love Magrath. Ruth married Leroy James Rollingson in 1944. Her new husband Roy was an enlisted man during WW 2 and he also fought in Korea.  In 1946-1961 Ruth and Roy lived in Moose Jaw where their five children were born: Linda Jane, Roy (Rhonda), Rusty (Jackie), Tim (Darci), Rob (Debbie).  She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.  In a move to survive, the family headed back to Magrath to be close to Grandma and Grandpa Moors.  Grandpa Moors became, in essence, the familiy's dad and many happy picnics, fishing and hunting trips resulted.  Ruth worked outside the home at Tanco and Stevenson's Grocery Store for many years to support her family.  At the same time, she was a full-time mother of five and for the most part carried the parental worries and successes on her own. What a great mother she was. Because of her example, the family grew up in a home where there was no whining or complaining. Her sense of humour and zany stories made her home a happy place. Her optimism about life and her desire for her children to succeed yielded a home where the bright side of any event was front and center.  It was a truly a happy place where everyone looked out for one another. Ruth's children all have University Credentials and have enjoyed successful careers at high leadership levels within their chosen professions. Her motto, as we all grew up was, just don't end up in jail and I will be proud of you.  But behind the scenes, she quietly encouraged each of her children to obtain education as a way to better themselves. Ruth lived in her home until 2018.  She moved to the Diamond Willow for for one year and then into Good Sams in Magrath. Her same grit, optimism, fun and playful spirit will continue to bless the lives of others. Ruth lived an ordinary life. She has done it though, with class and style. She has been an earthly angel in the shape of a mom.

This world is a better place because of her.
