It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Albert Striemer, beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother & Uncle.
Donald passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society – Prairie Ridge in Raymond, Alberta on October 12, 2022, at the age of 75 years.
Donald was born on February 26, 1947, in Taber Alberta to Albert and Anne Striemer. He worked in drywall and maintenance in several places throughout Alberta, B.C. and Ontario including Calgary, Gleichen, Lethbridge, Crowsnest Pass, Vancouver, and Toronto. He met the Love of his life, Violet Big Bull, in Calgary while they were both in their early 20’s. They married and had 4 children, Cher, John, Jim, and Debbie. Don also lived in Bridgewater Nova Scotia for 2 years before moving back to southern Alberta in 2018.
Don was a man of few words (until you got to know him), he had a delightful sense of humour that could really catch you off guard at times! He loved classic cars, a good cup of coffee, drives in the country with his beloved wife & playing Yahtzee with the family. He also loved his game shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune being among his favorites.
Donald is survived by his daughter Deborah Coleman & son in law Jarrett Coleman, siblings; Rienie Striemer, Evelyn Day, Gladys Scott, Hilda (Wayne) Kroeker and brother-in-law Mills (Jacqueline) Big Bull, grandchildren; Rachelle Big Bull, Jessica (Robert) Big Bull, Jodi Crowflag, Stephanie (Joe) Cold Weather, Jamie Striemer, Tristin Big Bull, Serena Big Bull, Blade Big Bull, Tosha (Fabian) Red Young Man, Linkin Big Bull, Evangeline Big Bull, Donnie Big Bull, Cher Red Young Man and Aaron Red Young Man, great grandchildren; Zander, Dante, Kratos, Richard, Saya, Jax, Pretty, Desiree, Tristin Jr., Royalty, Aurelia, Alizay and Giovanni, along with numerous nieces & nephews. All of whom will miss him & carry him with them in their hearts. He is predeceased by his parents, Albert & Anne Striemer, wife, Violet Striemer, daughter Cher Big Bull, and sons James Striemer and Shannon John Big Bull, siblings; Walter, Eddie, Luella & Linda, brothers & sisters in law; Andrew, Roy, Esther, Billy, Caroline, Wallace, Margaret, Maureen, Kathleen & Betty.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at GSS Prairie Ridge for the wonderful care they provided for Donald over the last year & a half.
Donald was one of the kindest, most gentle souls to ever walk this earth. He is so loved and will be deeply missed.
A family visitation will take place at Salmon & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday October 15, 2022 at 3:30pm.
A memorial service will be forthcoming.
