Dan LeRoy Chipman

On Friday, November 25, 2022, Dan LeRoy Chipman, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully in his home in Welling, AB at the age of 86 .

Dan was born on December 21, 1935 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Richard LeRoy and Elsie Wilde Chipman. He was the youngest of 5 children. On August 18, 1961, he married Myrna Riggs in the St. George temple. He convinced his sweetheart to move to Canada and there they raised 4 beautiful children:

Darrel (Karen), their children Trista (deceased), Easton (Kassidy) , Jacie (Nick) Bennett, Ashylla (Matthew) Smith,
Kinzee (Chanse) Sabey and Hallie.

Merril (Wendy), their children Jessica (Brandon) Shaw, Nathan (deceased), Gregory, Andrew (Roxanna), Seth (Samantha), and Marynda.

He leaves behind his 23 great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, his sisters Marie and Ruth and his brothers Dick and Mark and numerous brother and sister in-laws.

Dan’s greatest joy in his life was his family. He had unwavering faith and served a full-time mission in South Africa. Once he returned he continued to live a life of service as a social worker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After he retired he served a mission with his loving companion in the Salt Lake family history mission. While serving there he suffered a brain aneurysm and endured the effects for the rest of his life. He continued to live life with a positive attitude and was always kind. As a youth he was known for his fast pitch in softball. He had a deep love of sports, especially baseball and hockey. He was a Maple Leafs and New York Yankees fan and he enjoyed watching their games right to the end of his life.

He will be greatly missed. As sad as we are at his passing, we rejoice that he is now fully back with his loving wife and family that has gone on before him. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2022 at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, WELLING CHAPEL, Welling Alberta.

Friends are welcome to meet with the family on Monday November 28, 2022 from 7:00 till 8:00pm at the WELLING CHAPEL or on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45am prior to the Service.
