Craig Funston Obituary

Craig passed away peacefully in his home near Milk River, Alberta on October 20, 2021.

He is loved and missed by Gwynne Funston, his wife of 40 years and his children: Kendra
of Langley, BC; Breanne (Jared) Mosher of Edmonton, AB; Caleigh (Stephen) Casson of
Kamloops, BC; Layne of Edmonton, AB; Drew of Nanaimo, BC; Seth of Nanaimo, BC; Kyle
of Calgary, AB; Abel of Milk River, AB; and Silas of Milk River, AB. He also leaves behind 8
grandchildren; Kilmeny, Khaira, & Kieran Mosher and Ian, Jasmine, Harry, Oliver &; George
Casson.

Craig is survived by his mother, Elsie Funston; his brothers; Bryan (Elizabeth) Funston,
Murray (Pamela) Funston, and Crawford (Joyce) Funston, as well as numerous nieces and
nephews and their children.

Craig grew up in Richmond, BC. In his early years, Craig was very active in youth ministries
as well as street gospel outreach programs. Craig also spent some time overseas in El
Salvador teaching in missionary schools.
In July 1981, Craig married Gwynne McCullough in Terrace, BC. Craig spent his time in BC
ministering and spreading God's Word to hundreds of people as a preacher, as a teacher at
a private Christian school, and as a father, raising his children with Gwynne. In 2002, Craig
moved his family to a farm in Southern Alberta where he was employed as a teacher at a
private Christian school and travelling Alberta as a homeschool facilitator.

Craig's passions were words and writing, which were featured in numerous publications and
local newspapers; reading books to expand his knowledge; creating and facilitating
numerous Biblical teaching retreats that were wildly successful over the years. Craig had an
uncanny talent for bringing people together and utilizing their strengths to compliment his
own talents for these events. Craig was very active in his local church and community; he
leaves behind a lasting impact on all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Craig always did what he felt was best for his family even when it meant leaving his comfort
zone. No matter how busy he was with his professional life and pursuing his passions, he
always found ways to help his children succeed, from helping to home educate them, to
finding them employment, and including them in his passions later on.

His passing is a profound loss to so many people and will be felt for years to come. He
leaves behind a great legacy through his children, grandchildren and all those who met him
in his many different roles.

'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith'
