Clifford Kenneth Jasperson Obituary

Clifford Kenneth Jasperson, age 91, of Cardston, Alberta, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. Cliff was born on February 27, 1934, in Cardston, Alberta, to Andrew and Marie Jasperson. He was the second youngest of five children and grew up on a ranch near Woolford, Alberta.

Alongside his parents and older brother Roy, he helped establish Jasperson Farming Ltd., where they bred and sold Ranch Shorthorn cows, Hereford, and Angus cattle, while also growing alfalfa, barley, and hay. Over time, the ranch expanded to nearly 4,000 acres and supported up to 500 head of cattle at its peak.

Following the passing of his father and due to his brother’s declining health, the family sold the Woolford ranch. Cliff went on to operate Jasperson Farming Ltd. independently after purchasing land near Leavitt, Alberta, where he continued ranching until selling the farm in 1993.

In addition to ranching, Cliff worked as a heavy-duty equipment operator at the St. Mary’s Dam for 25 years, where he also received specialized training in pesticide application for the dam and irrigation canals. He retired from St. Mary’s in 1995. Afterward, Cliff ran his own handyman business for more than a decade.

Completely self-taught, Cliff was a skilled carpenter and mechanic who could bring any idea to life. Whether it was home renovations, hardwood floors, or landscaping projects, Connie dreamed it and Cliff built it. After completing renovations on their own home, he generously helped his children renovate their homes as well.

Cliff was the most devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Everything he did was for the betterment of his family. He took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always ready to build, fix, or help whenever needed. He was also a kind and dedicated guardian to his younger sister, Gladys, helping ensure she could live independently for many years.

Known for his strong work ethic, Cliff was a true rancher at heart; up before dawn, feeding cattle through the harshest winters, working full time, and caring for multiple households. He never liked to be idle and always needed a purpose.

Cliff had a warm and gregarious personality, a sharp sense of humour, and loved sharing a good joke. He was known for his legendary one-liners, and kept us all on our toes. He enjoyed comedy shows, like Mr. Bean, and The Red Green Show. And would watch cartoons with his kids and grandkids whenever he could, especially Peanuts and Looney toons. He loved animals, treated them with kindness, and held a special place in his heart for his dog, Missy Jane, and the many “borrowed” pets from his children and grandchildren. You could always find Cliff watching a nature or animal documentary at full volume in his TV room.

In his later years, Cliff faced severe short-term memory loss and dementia. Despite these challenges, he met life with humour, kindness, and grace. At the seniors’ lodge, he became affectionately known as “Mr. Charming” and “The Jokester.”

Cliff is lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Connie Jasperson; his children Cliff (Sandra) Jasperson, Rachelle (Walter) Foley, Stacey (George) McDonald, Jodi (Robin) Bratz, and Heidi (Kimball) Lacey; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on January 10, 2026 at the funeral home.
