Charles Alfred Poytress Died December 22, 2023 in Lethbridge at the golden age of 91. He was born on May 15, 1932 to Mabel Margaret Forth and Charles Henry Poytress in Parry Sound, Ontario.
Charlie grew up the older brother to 2 younger siblings: Gene and Neil. He loved the water and could be found most days either swimming, fishing, canoeing, or camping. As a teenager he worked part time on the ships in the Great Lakes which he absolutely loved. He later joined the RCMP and started training in 1953. It was less than a year later that he met his beloved wife and companion, Joan, at a dance. It was love at first sight. They were married in 1955. They were blessed with 5 children: Alan, Glen, Lynn, Shawn, and Faye.
Charlie worked for 33 years in the RCMP retiring in 1994. His hobbies/pastimes included fishing, playing sports-especially hockey and slow pitch but he also loved to watch any games that his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were playing. Trips planned locally and farther away were always something he enjoyed as well. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an example of complete integrity to his family whom he always held in highest regard.
Charlie is survived by his loving companion, Joan, his children Alan, Lynn, Shawn, and Faye, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Neil, son Glen, and a grandson, Daniel.
