Carolyn Margaret Luca Obituary

Carolyn Margaret Luca passed away on December 12th, 2023 after her fight with lung cancer. She is predeceased by her late husband, Allan Sanford Luca, as well as her parents George and Velma Rumpel. She is survived by her children Devan Luca and Brianne Luca, her siblings Joan (Larry) Smith, Wanda (Larry) Rumpel, Beverly (Greg) Finstad, and Raymond Rumpel.

Carolyn had a magical ability of ensuring everyone always felt how much they were loved, and felt that they belonged. She was passionate about helping and working with people with special needs. This was the focus of most of her working life. She loved all of her family and loved watching the younger generation pursue their dreams. Carolyn enjoyed when she was able attend their sporting or musical events. This continued when the younger generation started to have their own children. Carolyn was passionate about sports and you could always be sure that there would be a game of some sort on the TV when you walked into her house. She had a passion for watching sports, not so much for playing them. Although she was on the Foremost basketball team when she was in high school.

Carolyn was also passionate about music. This passion was shared by her son, Devan and her daughter, Brianne. She loved watching Devan perform in his concert band and jazz band while he was in school. Carolyn played the piano and guitar until the MS made it too hard. Carolyn also sang in a couple choral groups throughout her years. She was always willing to join her daughter in watching live music at anything from festivals to intimate house concerts. Carolyn was an avid reader and book collector. Her passion for reading was passed on to both of her children but her gift of speed reading was passed on only to her son, Devan. Carolyn loved taking her late husband’s Silver Anniversary Corvette to car shows. This is a passion her daughter continues to have and she plans on continuing to take the Corvette to all her mom’s favorite car shows. Brianne also hopes to host a memorial car show in her mother’s name this coming summer.

Carolyn was incredibly intelligent, which resulted in her not being allowed to be partners with her brother, Raymond, for any games that were similar to Trivial Pursuit. Carolyn loved her time on the family farm and the ranch in Saskatchewan. She loved all of it from getting to have animals, to riding horses, to checking on the cows every morning on the ranch. Carolyn would ride the quad out to where the cows were, ride through them once to check on things, then ride to an empty spot and turn off the quad. She would then watch all the cows slowly become curious of her and make their way over to her. Having all the cows be led over to her by all the curious calves was probably her favorite thing about working the ranch.

Carolyn Margaret Luca was truly a beautiful human inside and out. She was an amazing spirit that will be genuinely missed by all who knew her.
