Barbara Dora (Schneider) Kasperson, passed away on April 30 in Raymond, AB at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her sweetheart, Philip Kasperson, in 1998 after 47 years of marriage. Surviving her are her children - Keith (LaVerne) Kasperson of Salem, UT; Kim (Aubern) Hubbard of Lethbridge, AB; Phyllis (Carl) Pockrus of American Fork, UT; and Kevin (Jessica) Kasperson of Kalispell, MT; 17 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Hermann Paul Schneider and Margaret (Fromm) Schneider; her brother, Paul Schneider, and sisters, Margaret Wilde and Geraldine (Dye) Becker.
Barbara was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on April 4, 1928. She lived on a farm northeast of Raymond with her parents and siblings, attending public school in Raymond and graduating in 1946 with honors. She attended nursing school at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT from 1946 to 1949, graduating as a registered nurse. It was during this time when she was in training that she met Phil. Shortly after graduation, she moved on to Air Hostess Stewardess School in Minneapolis, MN where she also received a diploma. She never did work as a stewardess since she moved to Los Angeles, CA soon afterwards to work. She married Phil on June 16, 1950 after 2 years of writing and courtship. They spent time in California and South Dakota before settling in Lethbridge in 1952. On December 14, 1954 they were sealed in the Cardston, AB temple for time and for all eternity. She and Phil raised most of their 4 children in Lethbridge before deciding to relocate to Kalispell, MT in 1977. After Philip’s passing, Barbara moved back to Lethbridge to be close to family, spending the last 4 years in Magrath.
Barbara enjoyed sewing and embroidery but could do any type of handicraft that there was. She enjoyed camping and traveling and was never afraid to try something new.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7 at 10:30 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, COPPERWOOD CHAPEL, 9 Keystone Terrace West, Lethbridge. An opportunity to meet the family will be held from 9:30-10:15 A.M. prior to the service at the same location.
Interment to follow at a later date in Kalispell, MT.
