Alma Mendenhall Obituary

ALMA GRACE (REDD) MENDENHALL

She was born Feb 2 1924 to Paul Hardison Redd and Grace Brandley Redd.

She was born in Raymond, Alberta where she lived her entire life except when she served missions in Detroit Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, London, England and Salt Lake City Utah.

She is survived by: Her sister, Theodora who is 100,
Her children : Grace(Ken) Svenson: Alan, Dennis, Daniel, Debra, and Andrew
Max Mendenhall: Leslie, Tiz (deceased), Jenny, and Nikki
Anne Mendenhall: Jason, Carrie, Adam, and Erica
Gwen (deceased)
Douglas Mendenhall
Bruce Mendenhall: Brigham, Logan, Cortney, Payden, Macey, and Amy
as well as 19 grand children and 52 great grandchildren.

As child her mom passed away when she was 11. She then lived in a blended family of her father, step mother and 15 teenagers. She left school after grade 11, and worked at Stones Hardware. She was married to her childhood sweet heart Thomas Ross Mendenhall, September 15, 1943. Together they farmed and raised cattle and chickens and pigs. He predeceased her on May 24 1978.

She lived a life of service to her family, her church and her community. She was a member of the Hospital auxiliary for 50 years, making thousands of donuts along with countless quilts and contributing to other fund raisers.
She served in many church callings, including Relief Society president when she was in her 80s. She served in the temple for at least 20 years and went again every week driving all those who couldn’t drive, well into her 90s.
She raised a garden every year and gave much of the produce away along with a fresh baked loaf of brown bread.
Her biggest love was her family, and all of the grand children have memories of sleeping on Grandma’s floor with her telling stories, and of family home evenings with a treat, usually of ice cream and cookies.

She enjoyed her home, and anyone who visited her was made to feel special and appreciated, and usually fed a meal.

She was blessed with good health, and stayed independent until this last year. She was able to stay in her own home and passed away in that home, peacefully on June 4 , 2021 at the age of 97.

She loved and was loved by all.
