WITBECK, M.O. (BROWNIE)
M.O. (BROWNIE) WITBECK, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Society in Raymond on November 24, 2019 at the age of 96. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Lavina Witbeck.
Born in Raymond, Alberta on October 29, 1923. He was the son of Bessie and Archibald Witbeck. He is survived by one sister, Dixie (John-deceased) Pratt.
Brownie was the proud father of Jim (Penny) Hatfield, Randy (Leslie) Hatfield, Sharon (David) Nicholson, Susan (Tom-deceased) Kinney, Bruce Hatfield (deceased), Jessie (Syd Ives-deceased) Witbeck, Phillip (Sharon) Hatfield, Michael Hatfield, Dawn (Richard) Teerlink and a whole grist of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brownie’s rich heritage has been a blessing to the lives that he touched.
He received his early education in Raymond. At 19 years of age, he joined the Army and served overseas during WWII, receiving a medal for distinguished service.
Upon arriving after the war, he worked in construction until 1955. He was employed at the Raymond Care Center in public works for 33 years. As a tireless worker he could be counted on to get the job done.
Brownie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many positions and gave his all, in whatever capacity he was needed. He spent many hours visiting those who were struggling in their families with sickness, who needed a shoulder to cry on, or who just needed a friend. He loved everyone!
His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Every grandchild will cherish the memory of riding in the wagon, being pulled behind the lawn tractor, also known as his horse.
Family gatherings were the highlight of his life and he was never happier than when he was making preparations for the many get-togethers.
Brownie loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. He lived his life faithfully and walked in the footsteps of his Savior. His reunion with his family will be a joyous event. We will miss him dearly but are proud to be of his legacy and posterity. He is the example of the life we should live.
The family would like to thank all of those from the Raymond Hospital, Good Samaritan Society, and many kind and loving neighbors for the kindness, attention and love that was given.
