She worked at St. Michaels Hospital for many years and upon retirement, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irene belonged to the Polish Association of Lethbridge and attended many dinners and dances at the Polish Hall.  She also belonged to the CWL at Assumption Parish.  Irene enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and there were many happy family gatherings.  Her canned pickles and homemade soups were appreciated by all.  Friends were always welcome and no one could leave without tasting her home baking.

She is survived by her son, Kaz (Betty) Sznerch and her daughter, Grazyna (Chris) Kolodziej of Lethbridge; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Jeff (Cindy) Sznerch and their children Callie, Logan and Cameron; Michelle (Justin) Dormer and their children Katharine and Charlotte; Shannon (Jorn) Lawson; Darren (Christina) Sznerch and their children Brityn and Cruze; Andrea (Michael) Salmon and their children Joshua and Damian; Ryan Kolodziej and Max Boutin-Caron.  She is also survived by two sisters: Marysia Slenczek of Poland and Hania (Josef) Widla of Toronto as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
