MATSON WILMER (BUD) December 9, 2017

1926 – 2017

Wilmer “Bud” Matson, beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the age of 91 years, surrounded by his family.

Bud was born July 21st, 1926 and raised in Bolton, Ontario.  He and his younger brother, Hilliard, loved farm life and worked hard on the family farm raising sheep, dairy cattle and growing crops.  As Bud got older, he wanted to experience work outside the family farm and worked for a General Motors Dealership in Bolton.  Eventually he met the love of his life.  His Sweet Marie; just like the chocolate bar.  They moved out west to find their fortune towing along their children, Lynn and Larry.  Bud worked as a Quality Control Inspector at a mobile home plant in Lethbridge. They eventually moved back to Ontario to pursue a sales position with a national firm.

It was there that their son, Larry, accepted Jesus as his Saviour through their neighbours.  Larry didn’t waste any time leading both Bud and Marie to the Lord.  This moment in time launched a lifetime ministry for both Bud and Marie.  They eventually moved back to Lethbridge and plugged into a local church.  Bud started his own business and realized God’s blessing upon him and his family.  He joined the Full Gospel Business Men’s International and became their Vice-President of Canada for seven years.  This connection lead into a Prison Ministry for six years.  He also volunteered at the Miracle Channel and started the God Mobile ministry.  Bud’s faithful commitment to the Lord’s work has lead hundreds to the Kingdom of God.

Bud cared deeply for people.  He saw them through God’s eyes whether they were rich or poor and became a father figure to many.  He believed, as we all should, that people everywhere are hungry for something greater than themselves.  He knew that only God could fill that void and he made himself available to fulfill the scripture in Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to everyone”.  That was his mandate in life.

Bud was a devout family man.  He was a loving father to his daughter Lynn and son Larry as well as a grandfather and great grandfather.  He was the Patriarch of the family and was full of wisdom.  Bud will be missed by many.  He now rests in peace in Heaven and reaps the rewards of his service on earth.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Marie Matson; daughter, Lynn (Paul) LaBelle; son, Larry (Chris) Matson; grandchildren, Amanda LaBelle, Ashley (Chad) Mueller, Carrie Matson, Adam (Melanie) Matson, Anita (Robert) Potvin, Melony Matson and Eric Matson (Kelsey Ronne); great grandchildren, Rylyn Mueller, Caley and Taylor Burt, Mackenzie, Marshall and Aspyn Matson.

Bud was predeceased by his parents, John and Macil Matson and his brother, Hillard Matson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the LETHBRIDGE CHRISTIAN TABERNACLE, 1805 – 9 Avenue North, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Wayne Boersma officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, 960 – 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 1W5.
